Bio
I'm Nick Vrvilo. I'm currently a full-time Software Engineer, developing open source cluster computing software at Two Sigma in Houston, Texas. I'm also an adjunct lecturer at Rice University, teaching the Functional Programming in Scala (Comp 311) course in the fall. I have a PhD from Rice University and a bachelor's degree from BYU, both in Computer Science.
I've been programming since middle school, when I taught myself JavaScript and C using online tutorials. I love solving problems and designing efficient, elegant solutions in software—so I'm lucky to be in my line of work! I also love teaching. I know from experience that you only really understand something after you can explain it to someone else.
